About my help circuit for camera triggering with Microcontroller, the Two Step Trigger TST01, I reported on 01-14-2001. Now I have written a new software for the circuit with this you can determine the trigger moment more exactly.

Who is interested at this new software can get in touch with me by mail. I will sendl you the assembler sourcecode "tst 03-c.asm" by e-mail.

Problem:
Cameras, also digitalcameras, have a triggerdelay. That means that the camera dosn´t trigger at the same time that the triggerbutton is pressed. In KAP-use the best situation can be away befor the camera does the shoot.

Solution with a microcontroller:
The new software tst-03b moves the triggerservo into the measuringposition if the triggersignal from the transmitter is given. If the button at the transmitter is leaved, the servo moves into the triggerposition and the camera triggers without the long triggerdelay. So the KAPer can arm his object, press the button and when the perfect situation is given he leaves the button and the camera shoots undelayed (so I hope) :-).

The ready built circuit of the TST01 is only 28 x 40 mm in size. It is plugged between the receiver and the trigger servo.
With the eight switches you can adjust the servomovements and the triggertime for different KAP-Rigs and cameras. The LED´s D1 and D2 show the timing. D1 is switched on in the MEASURING position, D1 and D2 are on in the TRIGGER position.
The hardware for the new software is not changed. If you want to know more please look here. You will find the complete hardware information.

The triggerservo of the KAP-Rig is controlled in two steps as follows:

Normal situation:
The triggerbutton at the transmitter is not pressed or the stik is in the neutral position. The servo is in the position NEUTRAL.

Step-1, MEASURING:
If the KAPer presses the triggerbutton at the transmitter, the servo moves from the NEUTRAL position to the MEASURING position and the camera beginns with the measuring. The position of the servo for this funktion of the camera can be controlled with some DIL-Switches. The KAPer than has to hold the button down until the camera should trigger.

Step-2, TRIGGER:
The KAPer looks for the right moment to trigger the camera. Then he leaves the button and the triggerservo moves into the position TRIGGER. At this moment the camera triggers with no delay. Also this position of the servo can be controlled with some DIL-Switches too. The servo holds the triggerposition for a little time and than it moves back into the position NEUTRAL.

Adjusting of the servomovement and the triggertime with the 8pol DIP-Switch:

With the 8 DIP-switches the TST01 can be adjusted to the Rig and the camera as follows:

S1: Triggertime, 0,5 or 1 sec.

S2: Servoposition MEASURING low bit
S3: Servoposition MEASURING
S4: Servoposition MEASURING
S5: Servoposition MEASURING high bit

S6: Servoposition TRIGGER low bit
S7: Servoposition TRIGGER
S8: Servoposition TRIGGER high bit

Enjoy building the TST01 and of course enjoy KAPing with the Two Step Trigger and the new software.

I like to be available for questions, suggestions or experience exchange.

I would be very pleased about an entry in my visitor's book.
