Bug in the Filenumberingsystem of the SONY DSC-P5

The SONY P5 is a small, light and handy
3.2 Mega Pixel Camera with
an optical Zoom.
Camera: Canon EOS D30

At the numbering of the file names I have noticed the following error in the software of the SONY P5:

I operate the SONY P5 in the mode "FILE NUMBER: SERIES ". At this mode the camera usually causes file names with an ongoing numbering which don't recur. As I wanted to transfer new pictures from the camera to the local computer, the software reported, however, that a file is already available with a same name. After I looked at the files in my target directory, I noticed that the date of the files was some days ago.

I had loaded a little video clip from the computer back into the camera to edit it into two parts with the function "DIVIDE" of the camera. The camera makes two new files from the source file which numbers are one and two numbers higher as that one of the source file. The camera then counts new made photos with these numbers further although the same file names were already allocated some days ago.

Remedy:
Rename an available video clip so that it fits in the numbering again. Load this file into the camera and divide the clip. After this the camera counts further with the right, desired numbering again.
