This year we spent our summerholiday at the German island Langeoog in the Northsea again. For the first time, I wanted to try my digital-camera and was very hopeful to shoot good KAP-pictures. Unfortunately the weather wasn´t very good this year. Sometimes the sky was full of clouds, sometimes it was raining, another day the wind was to strong. The right combination for KAP, blue sky with little white clouds and windspeeed of approx 4 -5 m/s, wasn´t often. At one morning everything was allright and I took my bag, to KAP at the harbour. Unfortunately, I leave the transmitter switched on at night, so there was no energy and that date felt in water, too.
At that days, when I leave my Rigg up in the air, I shoot a lot of pictures. With a digital-camera you mustn´t be worry about the number of the pictures. You look on the display, after the camera has reached the earth or at home at the TV and delete the bad ones.
This time, I made all pictures in the full resolution of about 1600 x 1200 pixel. For publishing them in the web, I reduced the size to a hight of 400 pixels.

The first start of the digitalcamera in this holiday, I tried with my 1,7m hexagon Ghostbuster. The wind was very even, with an ideal speed of 4 - 4,5 m/s and came from the sea. I never thought that this kite was so good for KAPing. It was standing on the sky as it was nailed.

The picture in the under right hand corner at the Flinthörn was taken with two kites on a windspeed of approx. 2,5 - 3 m/s. At the first attempt with the 1,7m hexagon, the wind was to weak. The camera was just hanging in the air. That was to criminal for me. So I took the new bigger flowform and what can I tell you? It has nearly the same pull as the hexagon. At this low wind speed, it was so la la. So what should I do? Go home? Why not take both kites together? It worked very great. The pull was ideal and I could take some shoots. But when I tried to rescue the kites, the pull was higher and both kites began to stagger. The hexagon suddenly turned around and took the flowform to the ground. The camera was landing in the sand!! Oh, oh, - but I had good luck. There was no destruction. Only a few sand on the camerabody.

The principle to fly with two kites is good, but the kites must be the same type, I think. Maybe I will try it in future.

Because the wind has freshed up at the evening, I walked to the beach to took the last shoots in this holiday. The pictures from the beach-chairs in 1999 looked good, so I tried it again with the digitalcamera this time. I would take some pictures from the top of the beach attendant´s place. But from the 6 or 7 pictures I have taken, only this one was to use. If you take pictures from the landscape, it would be easier. But if you want to take a special motif, you have to control the camera very exactly.

On the left picture you can see the "Wilrath - Dreesen" - street in the eastern direction with some bikers. (On the island Langeoog, cars are forbidden). On the left a house and at the back the waterworks. At the horizon you can see at left the northsea and at right the tideland.

The picture at the right side is edited. It was very late at this day, so the picture was to dark. Also the picture is cutted. That is easy for the WEB-Size of about 400 pixel in high, because the camera makes a size of 1600 x 1200 pixel.

The weather wasn´t so good this year as I thought, so I´ll take some other pictures on other places on the island in the next year. There are ideas enough in my head.

Links to other KAPers and more you can find in my Surfers Guide.

I like to be available for questions, suggestions or experience exchange.

I would be very pleased about an entry in my visitor's book.
